Parents MUST enrol their children at school up until the child's 16th birthday.
A parent could be fined $30 a day, for every day their child is not at school (unless there is a good reason for the absence ie sickness)
Schools can discipline a student who has not been to school without a good reason (ie detention).
If a child is absent from school for 20 school days in a row, the principal can record the student as having left the school.
