Employment Relations Act 2000
Every employee must have a written employment agreement. Your employer must keep a signed copy of the agreement and must give you a copy, whether you ask for one or not. An employer who doesn't keep a copy of the agreement can be fined by the Employment Relations Authority.
Privacy Act 1993
Under the Privacy Act 1993, an employee may make a request for all their employment records, including an employment agreement. An employer must provide the requested records within 20 workings days. If they fail to comply, an employee may make a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner.
